I am the shittiest NYC tour guide ever.

But people seem to think that I can give them the keys to some secret underground.

This is what I know about New York City:

Ninety percent of the things that I love about NYC are food/alcohol related. Everything else here is unique to the time that you come. Events happen once and never again.

Google “Time Out New York” and they’ll give you events that are going on whatever weekend you’re coming here.

Otherwise, get pizza at Patsy’s on 117th and 1st or at Artichoke on 14th between 2nd and 3rd. Get mac and cheese at S’Mac on 12th between 1st and 2nd. Try Luke’s Lobster for their shrimp rolls. If you’re gay, over 21, and you drink, go to Cubbyhole or Cowgirl, but not Henrietta’s or RF Lounge. Get coffee at B Cup on 13th and Avenue B.

Walk the pier at Riverside Park on the upper west side, starting from the top and walking down to the west 70s because the whole thing is beautiful. Get cupcakes at Magnolia, and don’t bother with Serendipity. Prospect Park in Brooklyn is just as pretty as Central Park, with a fraction of the tourists. There are farmers’ markets everywhere on the weekends, but the best are in Brooklyn.

Williamsburg is for hipsters. BAM and the surrounding area has a great flea market on the weekends. The Upper East Side is good for brunch.

That’s what I know. I’m really not interested in typing this out again.
